but I am assuming that they were never degreed based on the facts presented. I would be very suprised if the engine builder went through the process of degreeing the cams and not notice that one of the gears was at the end of its adjustment range. This is assuming that the gears have enough adjustment to account for being off a tooth. If the gears do indeed have enough adjustment range to account for the belt being off a tooth, and the cams were still degreed properly despite this error, the engine would have run fine.
